More About Moving

So since we are going through the process, I thought I would review my thought processes regarding moving to Israel.
There are a number of companies that provide shipping services. Before I started the process, I reviewed many Facebook postings and narrowed down the list to a few whose names kept coming up. The interesting thing is that many of them used the same local company and I kept getting calls from him when we were doing the evaluations. That made it simple.
I ended up going with Kef International and I plan a full review when it is finished, but so far, they have done a very good job communicating to me.
In terms of space, I looked at the 20 and 40 foot lifts, but after running some calculations, I ended up looking at a partial lift shipment based on around 400 cu ft. Here is a good calculator.
What does 400 cu ft. look like? Here is a picture of a 200 cu ft. box.

It is 7 feet high, by 7 feet long by 4 feet wide. It is space sensitive, not weight. This means that you need to look at options to fill the space.
Other advantages are the cost and the fact that it is easier to store, both domestically and in Israel, as we have no idea where we are going to live. It is going to cost me around 6K US (including insurance to ship these to Israel and once you know how much it is going to cost, you start to look at items with a more critical eye.
For example, in terms of large items, we are taking the Casper Bed, and 3 bicycles. We already had two Townies

and purchased this one for the kid so she did not have an excuse not to bike with us. If there is space, we will be taking a few file cabinets and some other small furniture items.
We also bought a table and base for the bed from IKEA and had it delivered to the house so that they can be packed flat and then we can build them in Israel.
